My Katy Perry M&G and concert recap.

So this is a loooong time coming. I feel bad it took me so long to post this. I’ve had it written out since not long after the concert but never got around to typing it up. I rarely go on my computer anymore since I got an iphone.

The concert and m&g was on June 28th, 2011. I bought myself VIP which meant a meet and greet with Katy and that I’d be in the 1st or 2nd row (I wouldn’t find out where exactly till I got there) I adore Katy and her music so I was ecstatic about getting to meet her and seeing her in concert for the 1st time on The California Dreams Tour. I know a lot of people don’t care for her, say that she can’t sing….ehh whatever. I’m not saying she’s got the best voice in the entire world but she can hold her own. She doesn’t lip synch and she’s dancing like crazy throughout most of the concert. I was most definitely impressed.

I got there early because we had to check in then go to our Candyfornia Party before the meet & greet. We stood in line once they let us inside so we could get our tickets for the concert and then go to the pre-show party. I opened my envelope and I HAD A FRONT ROW TICKET!!!! It depended on when you bought your ticket, apparently I was the 2nd person to purchase it cause I was in seat 3. One of the girl’s in the 1st two seats bought there’s a little before I did. I loved my seat, it wasn’t right in the middle but I didn’t want that anyways…we’ll get to that later. ;) So after I got my ticket they took us in groups up the elevator to where the party was and gave us our gift bags as we walked in. It included a Katy Perry beach towel, a giant KP lollipop, and cute sunglasses. There were tables all decked out and cute with candy on them.  There was also cookies and stuff you could get to eat and a bar. They had a karaoke machine set up too with brightly colored wigs you could wear while you belted out some Katy Perry tune’s. 2 girls were brave enough to do it. I was not. haha

So after the pre-show party we were able to go and buy merch before everyone else was let in. I got Katy’s California Dreams Tour book. We then had to wait around a little before we could go to our seats….(when they let everyone else in) The woman in charge of VIP told us we could go to our seats and to meet back at a certain spot and gave us a time. When I got to my seat I had an internal freak out…..I’d never been front row center before….(front row once for an idol tour but off to one side) Here’s a pic I took on my phone.

It was like 10 minutes before the meet up time so I decided to head up and wait…and I swear almost everyone else who was VIP followed me up lol As we were standing around waiting people around us were getting drinks/food and heading to their seats. I felt weird, I’d never had a VIP pass before let alone hanging from my neck. :p Then we finally left that spot and went somewhere else where we proceeded to wait some more. The m&g was def not on time. I understood though. Katy had other m&gs before us for different things. We were told to give our gifts if we had any to the woman in charge of VIP and that Katy would get them after the concert but to tell her if you got her something so she’d know it was from you. I didn’t get a gift, I was kinda broke after buying my VIP lol :P But these 2 girls who are aspiring designers and had made their own dresses (which were really cute) had made Katy a dress…it was really cool. Everyone was bummed for them cause they couldn’t give it to her in person.(more on that later)

It was finally time to go meet Katy. I ended up being the 3rd person in line. :0 A couple in their 40’s were in front of me. I was kinda in shock when we walked in the room and Katy was standing their….like am I really standing 2 feet away from Katy Perry right now?! The couple in front of me went up and chatted with her and got their pic taken then it was my turn. I was so nervous. xp I walked up and shook her hand and told her my name. She said “It’s nice to meet you Kristin” I then said “I just wanted to tell you I’m a Katy Cat” (aka a major fan and member of her forum) She was like “NO YOU ARE NOT!” lmao. and I said, yes, I am. :) She replied with “Well then you get extra special attention!” and asked me my username, how to spell it and how long I’d been a member. Err this is where it gets embarrassing, I got my member name right and everything but couldn’t for the life of me remember when I joined, I said “January I think” and she said “ah so a fairly new member” I had a total brain fart, I had in fact been a member since August and I lurked on the forum long before joining. It made me feel kinda dumb, like I hadn’t been a fan of her’s very long. lol but whatever, she was still super nice and funny and awesome to me regardless. There was a table where she could sign stuff for us at. I handed her my tour book that I bought that night to be signed…there was other things I wanted signed but we were told 1 beforehand so I didn’t wanna break that rule. She asked me what name I wanted her to sign, I told her Kristin and spelled it for her. Here’s my tour book. =]

After she signed that I asked her if she was writing any new stuff for her next album, she said not right now but sometimes she’ll get little ideas and she’ll record them into her phone. I told her it’s been a busy concert month for me, and that’d I’d seen her friend Taylor Swift twice this month. She was like “Oooh didn’t she just play a stadium here not long ago?” and she was trying to think of the name, said something (that wasn’t right) and I told that it was Ford Field and that’s 1 of the 2 times I saw her this month. She then asked me if I met her…I laughed and said no, but I was really happy to be meeting her. =) Somewhere in all this I apologized to her for being so nervous, and she told “that’s okay” and smiled at me. I told her that “Pearl” (one of her lesser known songs) was my favorite. I love the lyrics and message that song has. She looked down at me (I’m short lol) with this look and said “So you get it?” with the cutest look on her face, I nodded and smiled and said, “Yeah I get it” and she said “GOOD!” very enthusiastically. I loved that moment. That song has a very strong meaning to women especially and it felt like she really cared that I got the message and not to let it happen to me. I love her <3 That song almost made me cry during the concert…well I may have teared up a little. We then posed for the picture. She looks gorgeous in it. And did I mention how pretty she is in person? Cause she is. After the picture was taken I asked if I could get a hug and she said “Of course!” and and I was leaving she yelled “I’ll see you in the 1st couple of rows!” lol And we got light up cotton candy before we left. heh. I went back to my seat and was pretty much on cloud 9. The openers started and more and more people from VIP were coming back to their seats. The seat next to me was empty cause a guy who bought it wanted to give it to someone else but couldn’t so he didn’t show up. This woman who was like decked out like she was from the 80’s was their with her daughters in the row behind me sat next to me and was like “you don’t mind do ya? There’s not enough leg room back there” LOL She was quite a character. She was somewhere behind me in line to meet Katy and she told me after I left Katy said that I was really sweet. :O I was like “REALLY?!” I couldn’t believe she talked about me after I left. haha That made my night even better. But anyways I talked to her for a while and when the girls who made Katy the dress came to their seats (on the other side of me) I asked them if they told Katy about the dress. They did and Katy asked where it was and ended up having someone go get it…so they did get to see her get it after all. Katy, I’m pretty sure YOU’RE the sweet one.  As far as the concert goes, OHMYGOD. SOOOO much fun. I’m not gonna recap every song cause this thing is long enough as it is. :p Honestly one of the most fun shows I’ve ever been too. Way different from Taylor, or David who I love but I really liked how different it was. It was like a nonstop party. There were GIANT ASS beach balls being bounced around the audience and at the end she sprayed us with whipped cream out of a cannon.
